Tried and true

I believe that most of us are looking for the same thing.

We want someone or something we can rely on, to believe in, to trust in, to commit ourselves to with all our heart and all our soul for all eternity.

Most of us don't expect to find it and so may say we really don't want it, but then something happens and we think it is possible, or has happened and there is a twinge of joy deep inside us that nothing else compares to.

Losing anything that makes us feel this way is the worst thing ever. In fact, we think we can never recover from it in the beginning, but when all is said and done, human beings are built to move forward and do. They may move into a self imposed darkness or they may relent and allow themselves to be carried into a new dream, a new set of possibilities. Either way, they move on.

It is a sometimes sad but true truth that most living things persevere. Only a few give up the dream of a dream. Trees bend and twist in the wind. Animals raise new young year after year. People regroup, rethink, and re attempt to find themselves in the reflection looking back at them.

And they do it because that is what has worked to get us where we are. It is evolution in action. It is the tried and true way to keep a species alive.
