System reset
In the beginning I only walked if I needed to get somewhere. (Like the refrigerator.)
Then I realized I had to do something for my health, so I tried walking but my weight, my flat feet and my age put me in casts and I was glued to a chair for months. Fortunately that got me to a foot doctor who fitted me with orthotics. Now, if I want to be able to continue walking (To the refrigerator.) I have to wear them, and my special tennis shoes whenever my feet are on the floor.
With this magical combination I began walking to the trash, then around the block and finally luring myself out by going to parks and malls and anyplace that got me up and out on my feet.
Now I feel as if I am resetting myself when I walk. The constant tempo, the gait, the thoughts that pop up, or are reordered all move me back into alignment. It is weight bearing, cardiac exercise geared specifically for me and when I finish I am hot, sweaty and tired, but still intact and much more at peace.
The trick is finding shade in the summer and not freezing in the winter. There are other obstacles, but one day at a time they appear to be doable.
