We often take our own brains for granted.
How we learn. How we process events. The amount of creativity we show. All these things are not the same for everyone.
I have a tendency to think everyone thinks like I do. My first way of coping with something new, something I must put together, or something I need to orchestrate in order to get the results I want, is to read about it in an instruction booklet, or watch a you tube video, or simply sit down and try to organize how I think it should logically go.
These coping mechanisms get me through 99% of the things I encounter in my life. But what about the people who cannot make sense of the instructions? Whether it is because they have trouble reading, or comprehending what they see or just choose not to take the time to do so makes a difference to me.
I understand that some people do not process the written word and some cannot maintain the focus it requires to watch a video and use it. They cannot help how their brain does or does not work.
Choosing not to try is laziness. To me that is the worst type of dysfunction. The lack of self esteem it takes to just let others do things for us that we could do for ourselves.
