Luxury

I don't think I knew the real meaning of luxury until this year.

I've had nice homes, even ones with huge swimming pools. I've had two cars in the family and sometimes three. Once that felt like a luxury. I even have very expensive high quality sheets for my bed, but it doesn't compare to what I have now.

A year ago my feet were in such bad shape I could barely make it from my bed to my chair, or even to the bathroom. Taking a shower was an agony even with a shower chair because I had to step in and out of the tub. I couldn't take my trash down the hall to the chute even using a walker, and doing my laundry was almost impossible.

Last night I walked into my bedroom and the curtain had blown up out of place. I was able to walk over and fix that without a second thought. That is a luxury!

Being able to navigate around my home, to be able to go to an event without being in pain, to walk down and get in my car. All of these things are luxuries.

Real luxuries.

Health is priceless.
